Upcoming Posts...

HELLO MY MOXIFIED BEAUTIES!  BLEH-I haven't posted in a bit, once again my schedule has been wearing me thin...but anywho, that's not any of your problems, simply venting : )

I just wanted to let you guys know about some of my upcoming posts:
1.  How I dye my hair! I'll be going over some tips and tricks on DIY bold hair color.  Recently I've been asked a little more frequently about my Nuclear Red colored hair (since people like Rihanna and one of the new Bad Girls from the season in January have been rocking it).  As I type this I'm waiting for the bleach in my hair to completely soak through so I can paint it up!
2.  OMG Xmas is coming!  I'm going to go over some of my HOLIDAY FAVES.
3.  I'm so thankful for my visitors and followers, I'm going to be announcing an AWESOME New Year Giveaway!!!  I didn't think I'd get to over 50 so fast, yayyy!

So stay tuned guys, and thanks for hanging in there, I truly appreciate it!

Too cute, I want a million!

Ok, I know I'm behind on updating everything--I've been crazy busy and my health isn't where it should be, sooo blehhhh! j/k  I just needed to take a bit of my day to rant and rave about PZP Creations.
Photo shoot with the owner of PZP Creations, makeup and hair by me
Parisa Ziarati is the owner and the creative mind behind PZP Creations.  I've known her since she was in the womb and have had the pleasure of watching her grow up and blossom into an incredible young adult.  She recently created her own little shop on Etsy so her staple Kouture Hair Kisses and adorable crocheted creations could be easily available for purchase.  I was prompted to right this up when she sent me pics of her latest custom order.
Purple & Black Custom Unicorn
OMG!  Isn't the little guy adorable????  In addition to these type of crocheted stuffed animals, her line of Kouture Hair Kisses hair adornments are pictured in the collage above.  Christmas is right around the corner, and if you have someone on your list that needs a dose of cuteness in his or her life, hit up PZP Creations.  I love how this MacGyver of the crochet world can make anything from beanies to blankets, she can dial it out by either hearing a description of the item requested or being inspired by a pic!
Custom Frog she gifted to my sis for my nephew's nursery
Dia De Los Muertos Couple, two of her most popular items (so cute as cake toppers or displayed on your coffee table)

Its HERE! Its HERE!

Hip-hip-hooooRAYYYY! My Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper eyelid primer just arrived.  I can't wait to try it out.  (I was in a rush so these pics were taken on my iPhone)  Heading out the door to meet a blushing bride, sorry this is so short!  review to follow of course...

huh? Her WHAT is photoshopped?

Hey all!  I don't know if this is me venting, merely expressing, knit-picking, who knows...maybe its the dash of "B" that's been brewing in me due to some added stress, but any-who, I've got a bit of bone to pick.  I love looking at portfolios, whether its a collection of work put together by a model, photog, stylist, or designer, I love them all.  I find others' work to be forms of inspiration, examples of what I need to add to my own portfolio, and sadly sometimes examples of what "not" to do.  One thing that irks me is retouched photos when its meant to make one's work look better.  grrr!  I understand using ye olde Photoshop to take a few fly away hairs out of a model's face, or enhancing a subject so it comes out clearer, but altering a photo to improve one's quality of work, i.e., lying about the quality of one's skill, that's wiggity-wiggity whack...
Don't get me wrong, graphic designers themselves are artists, but I don't agree with an artist showcasing a photo of his work that CLEARLY makes them out to be amazing, when they are mediocre at best.  I'm sure that people in other fields feel similar, like why should Jane the model work her bum off to get some killer abs, when Jenny's new shoot just came out and her pics show off her nonexistent perfect waist?  I guess it all goes back to my cheating theory, gawhhhhh! LOL  Like The Dirty's Nik Richie has said, "Photoshop is for liars."

  Perfect examples:

So ok, I'm done yapping for now.  I guess its safe to say to expect anything published with a celeb attached to be switched up to be more aesthetically and sexually pleasing, but if you're trying to show off how astonishing your makeup or hair artistry skills are, if a pic in your portfolio's been edited, please note it!  Hey, hey, I'm not being a hater, but wouldn't it suck to higher a makeup artist that couldn't blend, contour, use the proper primer, or line lips correctly when you needed them to?

Review: e.l.f. haul update (part 2/3)

Alrighty... I've had a little over a week to review some of the e.l.f. products I had purchased...
So far I've tried out the Studio High Definition Powder, Mineral Blending Brush, and the Mineral Eyeshadow Primer, enough to write up a true review.

e.l.f. Studio HD Powder I really like the packaging.  I would never use the powder puff, but it serves as a great barrier to keep powder from slipping between the cracks when closed, I HATE THAT!  The texture is ridiculously silky smooth!  It is supposed to be great for all skin tones, but I would hesitate to use it on a client with a deeper skin tone than Beyonce (I usually use celebs as references for skin tones, versus foundation #s).  It has no coverage whatsoever but it serves great as a "wearing makeup for about 5 hours max" setting powder.  I would not recommend it for oily skin, mature skin, a humid environment, or if you plan on breaking into a heavy sweat.  It is not oil/moisture absorbent and it tends to settle in even the finest of lines.  Overall, it leaves skin with a natural satin finish.  I will reach for it for clients that have annoyingly perfect skin, use as a sublte "bridal" cheek highlight, in place of a beauty powder (which I use to keep blush from getting blotchy), and for setting my makeup on any days when I'm only wearing it for a few hours.
It gets 3 out of 5 Moxie kisses and I'm still debating if I'd buy it again.

e.l.f. Mineral Blending Brush
I was happily surprised by this brush!  Normally I steer clear of discount priced makeup brushes.  I believe finely made makeup brushes, along with their steep prices, pay for themselves in the long run.  Just think, the more you have to replace one, the less money you can spend on new stuff!  Like I said in my prior post, I ordered it because it appeared to be the little sister to MAC's #222 brush, but when I received it, it was more like the #217.  It grabs product well, its made of synthetic brush fibers, its well made (I tried to take it apart under hot running water-I know that's pretty psycho, but if a brush comes apart under that test it sucks), and it has multiple uses.  You can use it for detailed powder dusting, nose contouring, concealer, and blending.  The handle is not very long (the longer the handle, the easier the blending) so you have to work a little harder on your blending, but it works great for defining and concentrating color in the crease.  I think I am going to buy a million more, especially because softer brushes, especially white/cream colored ones, take FOREVER to dry.
It gets 5 out of 5 Moxie kisses and like I said, I'm going to buy a million more!

Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
I was most excited to try the Mineral Eyeshadow Primer.  I used the primer 5 separate occasions, we all know I'm a skeptic and I had to put it to the test!
The first time 2 times I applied it with my #252 MAC Brush (the orange larger sized firm bristle brush), big mistake!  It has a doe foot applicator (which does nothing in terms of helping you apply it smoothly), so I added three small gobs of it and spread it out with the #252.  Both times I used MAC eyeshadow over it, if anything is going to crease or fade you are going to notice most on your eyelids, so besides my other shadows, I packed Melon Pigment (frosty finish) on the lid one day and Brule (satin finish) on the other.  Come hour 3 or 4 the creasing began...bOOOoo!  I still wanted to keep trying it out because it was easy to blend over and wasn't fast drying nor did it made my eyes look "parched" like Urban Decay's Primer Potion.  I figured I had to buckle and use my finger to spread it out (I hate using my fingers around my lid, it makes for premature wrinkles), but I was super surprised the primer smoothed out easily and evenly.  Over the next couple of tries I was truly impressed, who would have thought it would work well doing the whole finger thing instead of a brush?  I have abnormal eyelids LoL they are extremely sensitive, they tend to be dry towards the inner lid and surface of the brow bone and can get pretty oily in the inner crease.  I would recommend this primer for any occasion on eyes that don't tend to get oily, or for combination type of eyelids for days when you won't be in a humid environment or sweating.  I absolutely love this for more mature eyes and will be using this on my clients.  Its also great because my shadow didn't fade.  If I was doing a super colorful and pigmented look, I would layer a creamier primer over it (primarily on the lid).  When I used it, the longevity was just as awesome as my "go-to" primer MAC's Paint in Untitled.  Best $3 I've ever spent!!
It gets 4.5 out of 5 Moxie kisses and like I said, I'm going to buy a million more!

Sorry about the crappy quality of these pics, my camera was ruined by a Red Bull spill in my purse. *tear* So I had to use my web cam that came standard on my laptop.  These were taken in the wee hours of my insomnia-tic mornings, after about 12 hours of wear.  I couldn't believe this discount primer lasted!

I like to call this look the "Lazy Smokey Eye" LoL because its so easy and fast to do.

I used these products to create my look:

Face:
MAC Studio Moisture Fix (mixed with)
  MAC Micronized Airbrush Foundation
MAC Studio Finish Concealer
e.l.f. Studio HD Powder
Cheeks:
Physicians Formula Powder Palette Bronzer for contouring
MAC Beauty Powder in Blush Of Youth for an "airbrushed" cheek
MAC Blush in Don't Be Shy for color on the apples
Eyes:
e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
MAC Eyeshadow in Grain (on the lid), Tete-A-Tint (in the crease)
MAC Pigment in Fairylite (brow highlight), Gold Dusk (inner lid)
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack as liner, blended into MAC Eyeshadow
in Print (not further into the crease, just to fade)
e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow in Golden (to soften the outer edges of Blacktrack)
Rimmel Maxx Volume Flash Mascara
MAC #3 Lashes
MAC Fluidline in Dipdown to define my brows
Physicians Formula Powder Palette Bronzer to fill in my brows
Lips:
MAC Viva Glam GaGa Lipstick
Smashbox Lip Gloss in Champagne

Please ignore both the "Thug Life" pose (was trying to show the majority of the lid) & the half-sucked-in lip (bad habit). Thanks! haha

OMG OMG fellow makeup lovers...we may have a new eyeshadow primer!!

Our favorite Unicorn Queen Doe Deere does it again!  Lime Crime is bringing us a "Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper Eyelid Primer."  Geez, this stuff needs a waterproof makeup remover at the end of the day, WOW!  Lime Crime is claiming it intensifies color,  prevents creasing, and is moisture-resistant.  They say:

"No other primers work for you? Meet your new BFF: the Eyeshadow Helper! Formulated to withstand extreme heat, moisture and even the oiliest of eyelids, this primer is guaranteed to keep your eyeshadow on! In fact, it's so potent our lab says you will need waterproof remover just to get it off.  Comes in a highly giftable turquoise box."

This product took 6 months to develop and Lime Crime says you can swim with it on.  I just put my order in because its available in limited quantities, don't forget to preorder yours today... (enjoy: "fb10" gets you 10% off)  I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning, I can't wait to try it!

e.l.f. Haul

I had to do it guys--I had to finally use those eyeslipsface.com coupon codes flooding into my inbox.  Overall I saved about $16.00, and in eyes lips face product, that's tons of dough!  I'm super skeptical about products with such a low price point, being that I've spoiled my face with some of my favorite pricey/finely jet milled/MAC-alicious/baked in Italy/Smashbox-ed type of stuff, so I hope I don't end up throwing these items in my "mom, these are free game" box (Momma G has been known to snoop and scoop up products out of my kit).  It took about a week and a few days to arrive.  When I opened the package I was a tad concerned because the boxes looked a bit beat up, luckily all the product was fine.  Anywho, a review is mos def to follow after a few days of play time with it all...

WHAT I BOUGHT:
*Glitter Limited Edition Studio 11 Piece Brush Collection ($30)-  My BFF cousins and I have been really curious about e.l.f.'s brushes... I decided $30 for a set of their Limited Edition Brushes was a steal!
*5 Mineral Eyeshadows ($3 each)-  After seeing their mega sparkle on a few blogs including The Hollywood Heels, I knew I had to try them-ugh once again-its just so cheap!!!  I picked out some shimmers in Golden, Celebrity, Angelic, Socialite, and Innocent, which has a matte finish.
*Mineral Blending Brush ($5)-  This brush called out to me because it looked like my favorite #222 MAC Brush online, but I was completely surprised when I saw it in person...so far, just by the looks of it, I'm not impressed.  Its basically chopped in half and the bristles aren't as densely packed, bOoo, super disappointed...
*Studio High Definition Powder ($6)-  I'm an "HD" powder addict, I've tried them all and just had to check this one out!
*Mineral Eyeshadow Primer ($3)-  I've heard this is an e.l.f. must! Once again I'm skeptical-but who knows?
*Mineral Lip Gloss ($3)-  OOo Pageant Princess, is a dreamy light pink hue and for the month of October all proceeds went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, just had to get it!

Come by and visit tomorrow!

Hello everyone!
Once again I've been MIA-but I swear-this time I have an excuse...  I'm going through a MAJOR room renovation that will probably take a million years to complete!  I have more clothes, makeup, shoes, bags, and accessories than a Nordstrom, which is far too much stuff to continue packing away.  I'm painting, sorting, storing, rearranging, selling, "DIY-ing," organizing, etc, etc... I think most of it is going to end up on eBay.
Anywho, life must go on on the "outside" haha, so I wanted to invite you all out (if you're in the area).  I will be joining MsBelleza Jewelry at their Pre-Holiday Trunk Show.  They will be showcasing their stellar pieces and giving out an amazing raffle prize which will include my donation of a gift certificate for the winner's choice of either a Moxie Pamper Party or an exclusive Moxie Glam Slam Seminar.  Either option would be for the winner and up to 3 of his/her friends.  I'm also adding a MAC Cosmetics "goodie bag" with at least $60 worth of makeup!
You guys HAVE to be there.  Their jewelry is so beautiful and their pieces are to die for!  As for my involvement, I will be hosting a Moxie Lash and Lip Bar, where I will be providing complimentary false lash applications and/or lip touch-ups!

Here is a copy of what the MsBelleza VIPs were emailed:

Get The Moxie Look: The Perfect Bride

Veronica Diaz On Her Wedding Day, Makeup by Moxie Artistry, Photos provided by www.weddingdocumentary.com

The perfect skin...a pop of neutrals on the eyes...and some extra-glammy lashes to bat, make this look ideal to gawk at!  Emails keep coming in asking what products I used, so here you go fellow makeup lovers!

I'm a fan of applying shadow first, gussying-up face, and then going back to jazz up liner, lashes, brows, and lips...

Eyes:
On combo/normal skin (what I consider Heavenly) I'm the biggest fan of MAC Studio Moisture Fix and I usually use it around the eye area as well.  As a shadow base, I used MAC Paint in Untitled.  MAC shadows from top to bottom that I applied were: Brule as a highlight, with a dash of Dazzlelight right under the brow, Tete-a-Tint throughout the crease, Folie on 3/4 of the outer crease, Sketch and a light hand of Carbon to define the outer crease, and lastly Melon pigment on the lid, with a swipe of Dazzlelight on the inner corner of the eye.  I used MAC Blacktrack Fluidline to line the eyes, MAC Plush Black mascara to dial out some volume, and Covergirl's Waterproof Lashblast to seal the mascara for the night.  I loved how her lashes photographed, I ended up double stacking them.  I used a pair of Red Cherry W004N (a Kardashian favorite), layered with MAC #3 false lashes.  In her brows I used MAC Dipdown Fluidline for shape and MAC shadow in Cork to shade in.
Face:
I didn't prime the skin outside of the eye region because it effects the staying power of airbrush foundation.  I applied MAC Micronized Airbrush Foundation using my Iwata Smart Jet Airbrush Compressor.  For her cheeks I used MAC Beauty Powder in Tahitian Sand, and a mixture of both Trace Gold and Sincere blush.

Lips:
For liner I used MAC Cremestick in Cream O' Spice.  Her glowy lips were created using MAC Honey Flower lipstick, topped off with MAC 3d Glass in Energy.

Suprisingly There's No Dust On My Keyboard

Yikes!  I've been such a bad blogger as of late, and I JUST started this thing up!  So busy or not, whether you're sporting a sour face or a gleeful grin, you can't stop time, life goes on, and I have to remember to make time for everything.  I'll aim for it not to happen again, but I'll be honest, I'm pretty sure it will...

taking a break to ring in my cousin's 18th bday
I'll start back up with 25 little known facts about me:

1. I have a pet lamb! Her name is Lady "Lamby" GaGa.
2. I'm a complete germaphobe!  I'm pretty nutso about germs: I don't sit on my own toilet seat at home, I get grossed out by sharing a remote with more than one other person and often saran wrap it when using a  communal one, I'm constantly Febreeze-ing or Lysol-ing something down, and can't stand when people  touch me.  Being that I'm a makeup artist and hair "fluffer" I'm constantly in people's faces and people are  constantly invading my personal bubble.  One example of how phobic I am is that I'm at the point where the BF has had to warn people when we're out not to touch my hair when complimenting it or asking if I have extensions in, he's seen me freak out before when randoms just start petting me, first off its rude, second of all, I don't know where the heck your hands have been!  I think the only people in my life that don't freak me out and I can share air with is my BF, my 7 month old nephew, a handful of female cousins, and my sister.
3. I've never done ANY type of drug in my life, not even a puff off a cigarette.  I'm not saying I don't like to  party or that I judge people if they're into that sort of stuff, I'm just more into the consumption of good ol'  alchy-hol.  Just like Frank the Tank says, "once it hits your lips..."  lol
4. I'm a total insomniac, even if I'm exhausted, I normally can't fall asleep until sunrise : (
5. I hate when people assume just because I love me a shnazzy pair of 4-5 inch heels and false lashes, I can't get down and dirty outdoors, I grew up chasing my dad everywhere, I LOVE SPORTS, I can tell you how to fix your leaky faucet, and I can advise you about how to fix your vermin prob.
6. I've never had a MySpace or Facebook account and am honestly turned off by people that obsess over either one.  I have a Twitter account that I set up this year because I noticed your ex can't really stalk you on there, and if you've connected with me on there, its under my company name, not my own.
7. I have 8 years of martial arts under my belt and although some call me tiny, I can most likely get out of one of Brock Lesnar's submission holds.
8. One of my hidden talents is that I can apply false lashes while behind the wheel!  Witnesses have survived the ride!
9. I'm a total nerd at heart!  I'd pick a Scrabble tourney over club hopping any day!
10. Contrary to popular belief and said "impression" I give off, I'm not a mean, bitchy, or stuck up individual.  I get a lot of feedback after someone's taken the time to get to know me and if I had a penny for every time I've heard I gave off a bitchy vibe or seemed intimidating off the bat, I'd be rich!
11. I've been working since I was legally able to, my 16th birthday landed on a Monday, so don't let the over moisturized face full you, I have experience under my belt. hahah
12. I don't believe in moving in with your partner until you've got/put a ring on it and have a wedding date set in stone.
13. I'd rather kick it with the boys than catch a chic flick with the ladies, plain and simple.
14. I HATE THE COLOR BROWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
15. When I was in the womb, my parents thought I was going to be a boy and at my baby shower, my mom's friend was the only one that gave her something girlie, low and behold I popped out and only had 1 dress to sport.
16. I have A.D.D. but I grew up in a time where kids weren't given prescription pills to pop like candy, so instead I've gotten used to going off on random tangents, not really being able to sit still during a movie, thinking out loud and assuming you know what I'm talking about, having an overactive imagination, and learning a bunch of useless info.
17. I don't have a problem cutting people out of my life, I've learned the hard way, "if you don't trim the crust off while making a sandwich, you're going to get fat."
18. I have a ridiculously keen sense of smell, with that in mind, the number 1 smell I can't stand is metal (you know that metallic smell that reeks of a sweaty palm full of dirty coins)!  You can often catch me actually sniffing stuff to make sure "its safe."
19. I don't go to church every Sunday, nor do I believe you HAVE to in order to be "Godly," but I do pray every morning when I wake and at night before bed, and consider myself a spiritual person.
20. My closet(s) look like a tornado has hit after I get dressed.
21. I was on team *N Sync back in the day, didn't them Backstreet Boys always look OLD?!?
22. Oddly enough, no one really calls me by my God-Given name!!  Either people have a nickname for me, or they call me Mari, pronounced (Mar-ee), which kind of sucks because I like my name : (
23. I "accidentally" let my friend read my palms back in 2004, always thought it was a bit of a joke and strangely, EVERYTHING HAS COME TRUE, I swear, it still scares me, and great, now I've got goosebumps!
24. If I get hiccups I won't get them for a few minutes like every other person on this planet, I will be hiccuping anywhere from at least 3 hours to 2 days.
25. And lastly, I live by the motto, "if I ran for mayor one day, would this come back to haunt me?"  OMG guys, that question has kept me out of sOOooo much trouble!

BTW, I promise my next posts will be makeup/diy/fashion related...

Guilty Pleasures...

Alright guys just wanted to give a shout out to some sites that not only FEED my insomnia, but I can honestly say I don't go a day without checking them out:
Nik Richie keeps me glued!  I'm definitely proud to be part of the Dirty Army!  From being able to submit dirt on that "SLORE" that keeps hitting on your man or writing in when you're just sick and tired of seeing your town glorify the local bottle rat (when you know JUST how she wastes away the night afterhours..),  The Dirty is a GOD SEND!  I love Richie's commentary too, I was LMAO just reading some of today's posts.  Please check it out at least once, I promise it will take any frown off your face and you'll find yourself let a little cackle slip.
Another site I hate to keep up with is Miss Kim Kardazzian's site lol but I'll be frank, I love her stylist Monica Rose.  Kim may have showed off a boobie or two all the way to the bank, but the outfits she dials out always look pretty amazeballs and she's become a household name : )
Lastly, The Budget Babe always has the greatest choices for a fresh off the runway "look for less" steal or the answer to where to find a more affordable version of what your fave celeb stepped out in...
Of course there's a million of other sites I find myself on, but peel your eyes away from stalking your ex's Facebook page and check one of those out!

Rake up the sales while you can!!

Although my clients have been keeping me busy, I HAVE to stop and share these beauty deals:

First off Hautelook is rounding up its beauty week, they're offering steals on Jessica Simpson's Hairdo Extensions (for when you just don't want to fuss with your mane), Ginger Cosmetics (which have amazing color palettes), Amika styling tools (stylish and functional), and Tantowel (the convenience of a tan on a wipey)! -if you're not a member, sign up, its FREE!-

My other rant is on E.L.F. Cosmetics, you know (eyeslipsface), they just emailed me some discount codes that made me smile, especially because their products are already CRAZY affordable! *side note their new eco-freindly brushes are getting rave reviews, did anyone else notice the "Blending Eye Brush" is cousins to MAC's #222, PLUS they have a new LIMITED EDITION 100 shadow palette for $5.00...hurry before I buy them all for my kit!

Be An ADDICT With Me!

Welcome to the creation of Moxie Artistry's blog!

My name is Maritza, and I'm not ashamed to say I'm an ADDICT...a makeup, shoe, magazine, skin care, music, celeb gossip, pop-culture, self-help, designer clothes on sale, how to create the "look for less," DIY, anything associated with: weddings, red carpets, Lady GaGa, styling, hair dressing, party decorating, event planning, babysitting, craft making, and honestly anything that remotely has to do with fashion...ADDICT!

When I'm not shopping, out and about, cup-caking with the bf, or contemplating on my next project, I'm delivering smiles with a swish of a makeup brush. Makeup artistry is my passion, and I can honestly say I'd do it for free! -if money really DID grow on trees, that is ; )  -check out some of my work-

I will admit, I'm always on the "inter-webs" and my Firefox browser is constantly crashing because of the million and one tabs I have open...so I figured one more wouldn't hurt, why not have my own blog?

Here you'll find everything you need to know, have, save up for, fix, own, love, and learn about being a fashion forward, "know-it-all" kinda person, not to say I am, but I'd like to think I try to be a tad close to becoming the next...blah blah, you get it, I'm pretty full of both useful and useless information! So browse away to the section of your interest, be entertained, and don't forget to tell your friends!
